LifeBridge works with Bridgeport’s youth and their families to help them build resilience. Our youth program focuses on Academic Enrichment, Mentoring, Experiential Learning Opportunities, Leadership/Team building, and Mental Health.

Urban Scholars Program

The Urban Scholars Program assists youth residing in The West End of Bridgeport, ages 12-14, by providing them with an array of academically engaging activities designed to promote learning and prosocial behaviors in a way that young people will find enjoyable. The Urban Scholars Program will also integrate behavioral health services.  Our goal is to help youth as they navigate life’s challenges and increase their opportunities to build resiliency.

The Urban Scholars Summer Program

Are you looking for a program where young people can tray new things and safely spend time with friends?

Summer Program activities include:

Robotics                     Visual Arts                   Music Instruction (drums, guitar, and piano)

Marital Arts                Meditation                  Modern Dance

Creative Writing        Science                        Puzzles and Games

Team building            Reading                       Breakfast and Lunch served daily

When:  June 29 – August 21, 2020.

  • Monday through Friday except July 3rd (Independence Day); 8:30AM to 3:30PM.
  • Scholars commit to participating for the entire program.

Cost:    The Urban Scholars Summer Program is FREE of charge and limited to 50 participants.

Eligibility & Applications

  • Students age 12 to 14 currently attending a Bridgeport public or charter school.
  • An application must be completed & signed by the student’s parent or legal guardian.
  • Student must have a COVID-19 test & medical screening which we will arrange through Southwest Community Health Center coordinated by LifeBridge.

Health & Safety

Health is our top priority at the Urban Scholars Day Camp. Both staff and youth will receive a medical screening & COVID-19 test prior to camp. Spaces both inside and outside of the building have floor markers to make social-distancing easy to observe.  Individualized supplies of masks, hand sanitizer and disposable gloves will be provided. Program supplies will not be shared and high touch areas will be frequently clean during the day.
