LifeBridge merged with BCAC, effective February 1, 2017. BCAC’s mission and important work will remain unchanged, and it now operates at 475 Clinton Avenue, Bridgeport, as Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition: The Center for Research and Advocacy at LifeBridge Community Services.
If you share the Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition’s vision that all children of Bridgeport and the region deserve the nurturing and supports needed to achieve their full potential, please join us or make a donation.
The Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition is a coalition of organizations, parents, and other concerned individuals committed to improving the well-being of Bridgeport’s children and families through research, education, advocacy, and mobilization.
BCAC brings together an extensive, diverse, and powerful network of over 40 member organizations from Bridgeport and the surrounding communities. Coalition Members gather together to share information on the needs of children, to identify unmet needs and emerging issues, and to work collaboratively toward solutions.
Since 1985, the Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition has mobilized around issues that affect children and families. We work to create a community in which all children are safe, supported, and healthy, receive a high-quality education at every stage, and grow up in families that are economically independent and secure.
When a child or family’s health care needs go unfulfilled, it is incredibly difficult for them to function properly. Access to high-quality health care is a dynamic human rights issue, and remains an essential cornerstone of a child’s wellbeing.
The education opportunities granted to Bridgeport students are crucial to their future success. Bridgeport schools strive to provide every student with twelve years of high-quality public education to prepare them for great achievements beyond high school. Various adverse conditions such as lack of funding and adequate staff deter from fully accomplishing the goal of attaining educational excellence.
Since our founding in 1985, an important part of BCAC’s mission has been to provide the Greater Bridgeport community with a comprehensive assessment of the lives of children through our annual State of the Child in Bridgeport report. As we continue to expand our assessment to a Two-Generational approach and modernize the data you see, we hope you’ll find this information as useful and telling as we do.
BCAC’s work is expanded by an active working collaborative composed of parents, students, community leaders, service providers, and government representatives known as the Social Policy and Advocacy Committee (SPAC).
BCAC supports families through all of its research, advocacy, education, and mobilization efforts. In addition, we work directly with families to ensure they have the supports they need to thrive.
