Food Services for Seniors

Food Services for Seniors provides nutritious home delivered meals to low-income homebound elderly and disabled people in the greater New Haven area. In addition to addressing the nutritional needs of the homebound elderly and disabled, LifeBridge also operates 16 senior community cafes in senior centers and subsidized housing projects. Our “Senior Dine” program provides a progressive alternative to dining at traditional congregate cafes by offering subsidized meals at local area restaurants.

The Meals on Wheels program addresses the nutritional needs of the homebound elderly and disabled, and delivers state-subsidized, nutritious meals to approximately 900 individuals residing in the greater New Haven area. A variety of therapeutic meals including chopped and pureed are available to satisfy specific dietary requirements. Deliveries are made Monday through Friday and weekend meals are provided as needed. Some clients qualify for financial assistance. Full fee service is also available for non-qualifying clients.

Over the last nine years, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $94 million to help those in need. By the end of this year, Subaru and its participating retailers will have donated over $115 million to help those in need.

Local Meals on Wheels programs provide daily nutritious meals, nourishing companionship and critical safety checks to America’s homebound seniors. Each donation helps these programs enable seniors to age with independence and dignity in their own homes, where they want to be. Since its inception nine years ago, Share the Love has helped deliver more than 1.7 million meals to America’s seniors!

*Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 16, 2017, through January 2, 2018, to four national charities designated by the purchaser or lessee. Preapproved Hometown Charities may be selected for donation depending on retailer participation. Certain participating retailers will make an additional donation to the Hometown Charities selected. Purchasers/lessees must make their charity designations by January 31, 2018. The four national charities will receive a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 each. See your local Subaru retailer for details or visit All donations made by Subaru of America, Inc.

This program offers an alternative to congregate dining at the senior community “cafes” at area senior centers and housing communities by offering meals at local area restaurants on specific days during the week with a fixed menu of 9-10 entrées. Seniors benefit from a varied menu in a social setting that lifts their spirits as well as nurtures their bodies. This program is funded in part by the Area Agency of South Central CT in partnership with LifeBridge. To be eligible for these programs, seniors must be 60 years or older and a resident of the Greater New Haven area.
